Going to Karbala and Najaf for the first time? This checklist covers what North American families should prepare in the weeks before departure, and what to expect when you land.

Our team meets the group in Baghdad. Most groups begin with Kazmain, then travel south to Najaf and Karbala. Hotels are close to the Harams, so you can walk to the shrines for namaz. Expect crowds at the shrines, separate entrances for men and women, and security checks at every gate.
At least 8 weeks for regular trips, and earlier for Shaban, Muharram and Arbaeen when hotels near the Harams fill quickly.
Yes. US citizens apply for an Iraq e-visa before travel. See our visa guide.
Crowds, security checks at the gates, separate areas for men and women, and shoe storage at the entrances.
Join one of our upcoming groups, or plan a private trip on your own dates. Our team replies within one business day.
